I'm 6 feet tall and 200 pounds and I have zero tolerance for alcohol. I've never tested my blood levels but, one white claw or average beer is enough to make me feel loopy enough that I won't let myself drive after.
6) The neoliberal nonsense that reduces everything to number. My mother never drank a drop or smoked and eat tons of fruits but I have lived as long as she did.
@8 Appreciated. And she did. And she was prosperous.
But boy this number mania gets at my goat. I suffer from gout and the doctors were convinced it was my drinking, so I stopped and it only got worse. They just didn't believe it, these priests. So they finally checked my uric levels and they were either low or normal. They also checked it when I returned to drink: still normal. So they are stumped because the homilies of number are of no assistance. They don't see an individual system, only number. It's infuriating. People like 6 hold onto number like Linus holds onto a blanket.
Fun experiment, but lowering the limit to .05 doesn't really make much sense. People can already be prosecuted for driving below .08 if evidence (like driving behavior, performance on field sobriety tests, etc) indicates they were effected by the alcohol. Also the impact of the Utah law change has been wildly overstated (not just here) in reliance on one NHTSA report.
"In 2019, the first year of the .05 law, deaths plummeted to 27 and the law was heralded as a massive success. Following that dramatic dip, however, drunk driving deaths in Utah bounced back to 48 in 2020. In 2021, there were 61 fatalities, and in 2022, there was a state record of 69 deaths."
Lowering the limit is more likely to unnecessarily widen the carceral net than to actually improve roadway safety.
Nice article. I've often wondered what number I'd blow after a few beers. How about a follow up on the accuracy of the different retail breathalyzers? Amazon has a bunch ranging from like $10 to $130, with the one in this article being the $130 model. But do the cheaper ones work also?
Super unscientific experiment. The main cause of drowsiness, impairment and poor reactions is obviously the TWO slices of pizza. Carbs, grease and cheese? They put everyone to sleep. Try again with no food, and people will probably be much more peppy.
Mudede is Dr Johnny Fever!
I am 99.9995% certain that subject C is Charles Mudede, don't try to convince me otherwise

Gotta admit, you folks showed some courage by sharing your BMIs. Some should probably give up drinking for good. Nothing but empty calories.
(For the record, everyone should quit drinking for their health, as there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.)

@7 - I am sorry to hear about your mother Charles, I wish she had enjoyed a longer life.

5, it sounds like you might have an allergic reaction. Which is w/e, if you don't like to drink you shouldn't, it doesn't do anyone any good.
